According to October 2010 data from The Nielsen Company, 29.7 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers now own smartphones that run full operating systems.

The most popular smartphones are the Apple iPhone and RIM Blackberry, which are caught in a statistical dead heat with 27 percent of smartphone market share in the U.S. Twenty-two percent of smartphone owners have devices with the Android operating system.

Question 1
How active of a wireless consumer are you? Tell us about the products and services you use today?

• BB: I have unlimited text, picture, and video messaging, so I’ve been taking advantage of that. Otherwise phone calls are all I use my current phone for.

Question 2
In your view, what is more important, device quality or network quality?

• BB: If you have an average network, then the deal-breaker in my opinion is the quality of the phone. No matter how good the network is, it won’t make you enjoy using a phone that has an awkward physical design or annoying interface.

Question 3
How many times have you switched wireless providers? In general, what drove you to switch providers?

• BB: I’ve switched providers twice and in both cases it was due to dissatisfaction with tech support/customer service.

Question 4
In your opinion, what is the most frustrating part of the wireless buying experience today?

• BB: Most frustrating is high plan prices, long contracts, and high cancellation penalties. Also the fact that phone choices are highly limited based on which service providers operate in your geographical area.

Question 5
What do you think about MobileMob and the ability to negotiate great deals on wireless products for you and other “Mob” members?

• BB: I think MobileMob is doing a great service to consumers by allowing them to band together to leverage their buying power as a group.
